Doing Business Under Assumed Name Certificates
A sole proprietorship or general partnership that intends to use a name other than the owner’s personal name must file for a fictitious name through a process that is called Doing Business As. You are required to file in the county/counties in which you conduct business.
You can file in Washington County by submitting the completed certificate form and the filing fee.
The fee to file the DBA form is $25.00 cash, money order, or credit card. (For credit cards a processing fee of 6% ($1.50 min) is applied per transaction for terminal reader and 7% ($2.50 min) for manual card entry. Processing fees are non-refundable.)
- In Person, with valid photo identification from owner/owners
- By mail, forms must be notarized prior to mailing. Be sure to indicate where you would like the form returned after filing.
